NZLARPS 2018 AGM

NZLARPS will be holding its AGM at 6pm on Tuesday the 9th of October, at the Ministry of Health, 133 Molesworth St, Thorndon, Wellington. The venue requires someone to let you in, so it is best to assemble outside from 5.30pm. The agenda of the AGM can be found on Diatribe here.

Part of the business of the AGM is to elect a committee for the upcoming year. We are therefore calling for nominations for committee. There is a nominations thread on Diatribe. Nominations can be made either by posting to that thread, or by emailing "secretary@nzlarps.org". You must be a member to nominate or second a candidate.

Please note that this is for the national committee. Nominations for the regional committees will be handled separately.

South Island branch & membership sale!

Following an increase in membership numbers in the South Island and the success of Cerberus, the national committee has voted to formally establish a branch in the South Island. Practical issues mean it is expected to be centred on Dunedin, but it will cooperate closely with SAGA and assist with events in Christchurch. We're currently working on arrangements to elect or recognise an interim committee.

In keeping with past practice we are also offering discounted membership to people in the new region (the entire South Island) to boost membership numbers. You can sign up for only $10 until July 31. After that you will have to pay the usual $20/$15 price.

Instructions on joining are here.

If you have any questions, please contact secretary@nzlarps.org.

Motions passed

  • 2017-3 (1 May 2017): That we offer $10 membership rates in the South Island until 31 July 2017.
3 in favour (James, Naomi, Malcolm), 1 against (Phillip), 1 abstention (Brad).

  • 2017-4 (2 May 2017): That we form a regional branch in the South Island.
3 in favour (James, Naomi, Malcolm), 1 abstention (Brad).

Community Welfare and Safety Meeting Nzlarps Auckland

Sunday, April 2 at 2 PM - 5 PM @ Leys Institute, St Mary's Road, Auckland, New Zealand 1011

NZLARPS Auckland is hosting a community welfare and safety meeting to get community feedback and discussion on how we can make LARP a safer place for all attendees.

Guests from RPE (Rape Prevention Education) and HELP (Support for sexual abuse survivors) will be present to assist and give advice.

We have arranged for an independent chairperson to facilitate the meeting. Attendees will be expected to conduct themselves appropriately, and failure to do so will result in them being asked to leave.

We encourage all larpers to attend, whether you are an NZLARPS member or not. We want to work together to ensure that our community is a safe and inclusive place for everyone.

This is not a forum intended to air specific cases or create a witchunt, but is intended to foster open and constructive dialogue as well as processes for addressing welfare issues within our community.
