Costume
French Revolution, or the closest convenient thing. Play a commoner if you want basic costuming. The following are just suggestions. For male commoners: plain trousers, shirt, waistcoat with belt over, jacket, cravat, simple hat, sideburns and moustache. For noblemen and courtiers: flamboyant breeches, stockings, waistcoat, coat, lace, whitened hair or wig, musketeer beard. For female commoners: plain dress and apron or skirt, blouse and bodice, bonnet or hat. For noblewomen and courtesans: flamboyant dress, lace, whitened hair or wig, pale makeup, beauty spots. For soldiers: breeches, stockings, jacket, sashes and hat (ideally matching). Weapons will be foam hand weapons, with firearms represented by flintlock musket cap guns (for soldiers) and pistols (for officers and nobles).

Background
Her Royal and Most Illustrious Majesty Queen Beatrix of Ussland bids greetings to her obedient subjects. Though our blessed nation is the wisest in the world and has defied the provocations of our perfidious neighbours, and although by the divine efforts of His Holiness King Ulbert Who Now Rules Us From the Great Heavens we have crushed the venomous dogs of the Unspeakable Cult and made our homeland a bountiful paradise, we now face a new danger. Foreign agents in our midst have instigated a foul rebellion against your beloved Queen.
Fear not, for the Queen in her divine wisdom has uncovered this stinking treachery and at any moment the infallible Queen's Justice will descend on the viper's nest where these plots are laid, and like a heavenly scythe they shall reap the heads of the traitors. The screams of the quislings as they give up their fellow serpent collaborationists shall ring through the sacred valleys of the Queen's land, and their blood shall wash clean the soul of Ussland, the Chosen Nation of the Great Heavens.
