THE GORDIAN KNOT

Setting

In the Milky Way galaxy, worlds have come to an uneasy alliance called the Galactic Federation cemented by centuries of trade and development and presenting a united front against 'The System Scurge'. A Senate meeting has been called and an official agenda distributed to relevant parties.

A welcoming reception is held the night before the Senate meeting, an informal, open-invitation gathering for delegates, citizens and guests (invited or not). The ultimate opportunity to network, politic, trade and romance. Everyone knows that's where all the important decisions are really made.

You will be attending the welcoming reception - The Gordian Knot, a 3 hour LARP for 110 pre-written characters. The game features a mix of plot themes to suit all tastes. Intrigue, romance, the continuation of your species, action driven heroes, anti-heroes and villains; slavery and freedom, moral and ethical dilemmas, and a dash of comedy.

Characters

There will be 110 characters. Casting is being done using a questionnaire about your character preferences. The questionnaire will be available at the same time as Game Selection opens, at 7pm on June 1st. Opportunities will be available for close-knit player groups, and lone-wolf characters at levels to suit any experience.

Shortly after registration a character concept will be sent to participants, along with a costuming guide. With a variety of planets and species available a wide range of costuming and make-up levels will be catered for.

Costume

There will be a wide range of costuming from low sci-fi to elaborate alien prosthetic and make up effects. Players will be able to specify the level of complexity they would like in the casting questionnaire.

Inspirations

Inspirational sources for this game, and an indicator of setting and scene style include Firefly, Dr Who, Red Dwarf, Dune, Blakes 7, Star Trek, the Borg, Stargate. Babylon 5, the Apollo missions, Battlestar Galactica (new and old) and many more. However, characters are wholly original.
